I am an elementary or middle school educator. Does LabXchange have any resources for me?
The content on LabXchange is primarily intended for high school-aged learners and above. Learners must be at least 13 years old to register for a LabXchange account (although anyone can browse the content in our public library without an account.) However, you will still find the content in the library useful for planning lessons (including professional development materials, a content area that we will be expanding over the coming months.) You will build your own science content knowledge by exploring advanced topics in greater depth. You can also connect with our global community of educators to share ideas and best practices.
What can I do from my Dashboard?
From the Educator Dashboard, you can:
- create new content, including pathways
- view content that you have added to your Favorites
- create and manage your Classes
- view and manage your mentees, if you are offering mentorship
- monitor the progress of learners in your Class as they complete the assigned content
Can LabXchange content be used on other platforms or Learning Management Systems (e.g. Google Classroom or Canvas)?
LabXchange content can currently only be utilized on the LabXchange platform. We recommend that you add the relevant links in your LMS or share them via email to your students.
We are co educators designing a class together. Can we both be added as Educators for a class on LabXchange?
Co educators can be added to your class at the time of creation, or later in the Class Settings. When editing the class information, simply search for your co educator by name in the fields provided at the bottom of the form.
Can I search content by grade level?
LabXchange is a global platform, and grade levels are determined very differently across states and countries. Instead, our content is tagged by Background Knowledge. This will help you decide whether a resource is appropriate for your learners.
Are LabXchange resources aligned with disciplinary curriculum standards?
You may find that some resources reference specific curricular standards, such as NGSS, or for specific programs, such as AP Biology, in the description. However, as a global platform, we are unable to offer resources aligned to all curricular standards and requirements. When it is made available, you will also be able to use the Discussion Forum to strategize with other educators from a particular state or region about the LabXchange resources that may be most relevant for your context.
Does LabXchange offer demos or tutorials for schools/school districts?
We'd love to connect with your administrator to offer a private demo of LabXchange. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org with more information and a member of our team will be in touch.
